These DIY shower disks are perfect for fighting congestion and stuffy noses. This time of year my husband always has a stuffy nose. Vapor Rub in the shower would never work for my husband. If I learned anything from living with him after his knee injury and surgery in the Army I learned that when that man falls the takes anything nearby down with him. These Peppermint Eucalyptus All-Natural Decongestant Shower Disks are just the right fit.
Peppermint Eucalyptus All-Natural Decongestant Shower Disks
These are not bath bombs they are meant for the shower similar to the popular vapor rub disks without any sticky slipperiness in your shower. You can use cupcake cups to create a disk shape but I used my rectangle soap molds that I just love, they are so easy to take out. I may have gotten tired of dealing with cute molds after I spent all last weekend fighting to make bath bombs that kept breaking. You could use any oven safe mold.
What you need:
- Your choice mold
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoon kosher salt
- 1/3 cup water
- peppermint essential oil
- eucalyptus essential oil
Make your own All-Natural Decongestant Shower Disks
Mix baking soda, cornstarch, and salt together. Slowly add the water to create a paste. this should be a thick paste that is playable the less excess water the faster it will dry in the oven.
Place into your silicone mold or lined muffin tin. These do not have to per perfect. If you plan to give as gifts or sell you may want to choose a cute mold to make them more fun.
Bake on 350 for 30 minutes to allow them to dry. You want these to be fully dried before storage so leave them longer if any moisture remains.
Cool completely before you remove from the mold.
Add 4 drops peppermint and 2-3 drops eucalyptus oil to each shower disk.
Store in an airtight container to prevent the oils from evaporating. Small disks look great on the bathroom counter in a mason jar.
These disks can be changed up by adding any essential oil you want. The sky is really the limit. Try coffee and vanilla essential oil for a wake me up similar to the espresso sugar scrub while in the shower. The baking soda holds the essential oils and the cornstarch and the cornstarch and salt holds them together.
