Fall Field Trip: Pumpkin Patch

I love autumn. Out of the entire year, I hold my breath for crisp cool fall mornings, pumpkin everything, and a house that smells like baked apples which I may feed to my children a bit too often in the fall. I missed fall so much during our time in Florida. The oppressive heat of summer nearly all year round is not my idea of fun. My heart sings knowing we are approaching fall for the first time in years. Our last fall was in Kansas where trees are a bit sparse but, we still had so much fun. I can’t wait to go on our field trip to the pumpkin patch this year. Every homeschool family should visit one.

Fall field trip: pumpkin patch

A trip to the pumpkin patch was always the highlight of the season for us before Florida where it was too hot to get into the season. We found so much joy exploring corn mazes, riding in wagons full of hay, and picking the perfect pumpkin that would undoubtedly become part of a meal in a few weeks time.

Looking for a fall field trip? Check out a pumpkin patch.

The pumpkin patch is a great place to bond with your family. When in a corn maze is a great way to bond with loved ones. Wondering around and running out all of your children’s energy, They always sleep well after.

Pick your own pumpkins on this exciting pumpkin patch field trip.

Picking a pie pumpkin is a great option. Kids can carry them easier, you can paint them instead of carving. Then on November first we wash them and turn them into pumpkin puree. From there they become pumpkin bread, pumpkin spice rolls, pumpkin pie pancakes, pumpkin syrup. and so much more.

Explore the petting zoo at your local pumpkin patch.

Most farms you would go picking pumpkins at will have a petting zoo perfect for spending time with the kids. They never forget the joy in meeting farm animals up close and personal.
