Exploring Creation with Astronomy from Apologia

When Exploring Creation with Astronomy, 2nd Edition from Apologia Educational Ministries arrived outside my door for this review I was excited. The writing program we reviewed from Apologia we have been using is phenomenal so I had some pretty high expectations for the Young Explorer Series.

Apologia Exploring Creation with Astronomy

The first night I stayed up late looking over the book and the notebook journals for the kids. The soft spiral binding may have distracted me and my sensory side for a moment. The next morning I found my ADHD child playing with the binding as she worked as well. I really helped her focus on the work so I just smiled because I knew.

Exploring Creation with Astronomy

Exploring Creation with Astronomy is a full year course in full color offering two levels of notebooking journals so kids can enjoy what they are learning all year long. This program uses the immersion method to allow children to gain a deeper more advanced knowledge of science. Much like high school and college your child can now take a specialized science class. This is great because it eliminates constant review you find in the primary years that can force a child to lose interest fast.

The student text and Audio CD can be used over and over with as many students as you have. We intend to put them up and order copies of either the Notebooking Journals to store away for the youngest kids to do when the older children outgrow the Young Explorers Series.

The Audio CD is great because it reads the book aloud for kids. Which means you can get the reading done in the car making the most of your time.

I really love that having the kids work together even as they age at different times is a major highlight of this program. The two levels of the notebooking journals is pure genus. My son is doing great with the Jr. Notebooking Jurnal While Monkey is flourishing with hers.

As usual with Apologia products this program allows you to teach your child in-depth science with a faith-based approach. You will not find any Big Bang theory content that goes against what you are teaching your child as you help them grow in faith.

Multi-level teaching at it’s best

Little Man used the Jr. Notebooking Journal with nice lines for beginner writers. The classic handwriting lines means your child can get handwriting in while doing this program. It even includes copywork for each student.

I love how they offer two levels of notebooking journals

Older kids no longer need these lines. The lines provided are similar to a wide ruled notebook perfect for older kids that have learned to write without the three-part guide.

Both the Notebooking Journal and the Jr. Notebooking Journal has the same content making it easy to work with more than one child at a time. We really loved the notebooking and lapbooking combo in this program, add that biblical copy work and I could not be more impressed.

Apologia: Exploring Creation with Astronomy Review
The kids loved the science experiments included. Or perhaps it was the bopping planets (balloons) around the house after we created our solar system model. This hands-on approach is fun and exciting.

We love the personal touch the publisher Apologia leaves in each package. A printed sticky note thank you and this time a free sample of one of the products they offer in their curriculum line up.

My friend actually uses this curriculum for homeschool. She LOVES it! I’m just starting to homeschool and love finding new curriculum from moms who have tried and liked it. Thanks!
