One thing that has helped our family grow is bringing faith into our marriage and home. When we first got married we where ummm.. complicated in the spiritual realm of life. Both pretty lost, to tell the truth. Bringing our family to God was not an overnight thing. In fact, I am certain God is still working on that particular part of our lives daily. In our busy lives we have to work a bit harder to get Bible study in but I know the importance of it for raising children with passion guidance, and morals I want them to have and to build strong lasting bonds for our family.
Hands-on Bible study for the children.
We are blessed that Mother Goose Time does the majority of the work for me when it comes to bible study for the children. Each day Monday through Friday we have a devotional I do with the children. I love spending this time with them and the Lord and I hope they remember all of the fun simple things we do.
Mother Goose Time uses everyday items to do this and they offer a great set with all of the art supplies and more fun activities on the main bible topic each month.
We love to pull out truth tunes the CD that goes with the Experience God program form Mother Goose Time while we work through chores around the house.
Couples Bible Study for a healthy marriage.
I’m not gonna lie to you and say that our marriage is perfect or ever will be. I’m not gonna tell you that we sit around with our bibles reading together or pray together well… ever. That would all be a lie. Getting him to say grace with us at the table for dinner took what seemed like forever.
We have found that couples devotionals are really worth it for us. Usually, it involves him turning town the video game he is playing while I read aloud the devotional for the week while we have a few mi8nustes of quite after the children fall asleep. Usually, we end up laughing or chatting about how the devotional fits our lives. Right now we are enjoying Sacred Marriage.
The first real thing that helped bring God into our marriage was a marriage seminar the Army held where we went and watched the DVD of “Laugh your way to a Better Marriage.” If you have never seen it I suggest you search Mark Gungor on YouTube. I can’t tell you how many times his explanation on the differences between men’s brains and women’s brains has saved our marriage. It allowed us to truly understand how the other works and has saved us from a lot of arguments while allowing us to move past the things that do get in the way.
