It’s spring time and with spring comes rain. Lots of it in fact. How does that rhyme go “April showers bring May flowers?” Well welcome spring and welcome gloomy rainy days just perfect for a little indoor fun, puddle jumping on the sidewalks, and lessons about the weather.

Spring is such a wonderful time of renewal until the kids start to become restless as the rains come day after day. When the kids get bored life gets a bit harder for us so we all need a few rainy day ideas for kids.

Hands on science for rainy day fun

What better time to learn with hands on activities than when the kids are board? Science experiments make for the best rainy day activities. Oooblack (corn starch and water) can keep kids busy for hours as they learn about and experience the ONLY substance that is both a liquid and a solid simultaneously.

Turn an empty Jar into a twister while you learn about tornadoes. A little baking soda and vinegar can go a long way to show kids about chemical reactions.

Kids can have fun outside on rainy days

If the rain is warm and there is no lightning go outside and enjoy the rain. Jump in puddles, get wet and have fun. Just be sure everyone gets a shower when you come in for the day. Unless you live in Flint where the rain is cleaner than the water from the tap. In which case take some soap outside with you.
