Honestly writing a review of this is a it of a challenge. I mean 500 words about stick figures? Yeah not so do able until I realized that perhaps I was looking at this one the wrong way. You see on the outside this looks like well stick figures. Surprisingly it is so much more. Grapevine Studies is a great program for teaching children the stories of the Bible and help them get to know the characters. Lesson plans are easy and ready to go for use by parents and Sunday school teachers saving you time and stress.
Traceable was definitely easier for the non drawling fans. Monkey did the beginner student and ended up copying the stick figures from her brothers traceable version. I feel that stick figuring through the bible may not be her thing. She loaves to color but drawling even stick figures frustrated and annoyed her. She did get to go into detail on the different parts of the Resurrection story but a project we made ourselves was a much better fit for her. I also discovered with some hilarity that when a child is doing stick figures in a hurry they sometimes come out a bit… well not what they intended. It only takes one line longer then the rest for a bible study to come to an abrupt end when things look a bit inappropriate.
My son dove into the Grapevine Studies The Resurrection Beginner Traceable with abandon. I lent him my gel highlighters I use in my Bible and set him loose. The gel highlighters made tracing the stick figures fun. I hoped that it would allow him to see what he was doing but he got a little carried away.
We used The Resurrection as part of our before Easter studies. With the children getting older we want them to understand the sacrifice Jesus made for us all and why we celebrate his return to life. If you are working with multiple students I recommend playing with your printer settings and printing two pages per side of the paper so you get the most use with the least use of Gods resources.
Grapevine Studies is hosting a big sale this month on The Resurrection to make it available to more families as we move in to celebrate the Lords sacrifice for us. You can see if this is a fit for your family or students with a free sample of The Resurrection with the complete lesson about the last supper. This is a great way to see if the program will work for you before buying. I suggest doing it with all children that will be using the program to see who it will work best for.
