Simple Homemade Peppermint Sugar

Homemade Peppermint Sugar is the perfection addition to your coffee or cocoa bar during the holiday season. It can also be used to add delicious seasonal flavor to drinks, baked goods, and more. We love to stir it into our hot cocoa or sprinkle over ice cream for a special treat. I love how simple it is to make but yet so pretty on your counter or as part of a coffee or cocoa gift basket for Christmas. I grabbed an inexpensive sugar dispenser to put mine in it makes portioning easy and looks cute sitting out. Grab some sugar and candy canes and let’s make this tasty and pretty holiday treat for you and your guests.

Peppermint is a staple this time of year in everything from Peppermint Playdough to Peppermint Bath Bombs. Candy canes are a major staple during the holiday season and this peppermint sugar made with candy canes will make a great addition to your table when guests stop by this year. Our favorite way to use it is to sprinkle on top of classic sugar cookies.

Make your own peppermint sugar

What you need:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 candy canes

Break candy canes into large pieces.

Place broken candy canes and granulated sugar into a food processor or using a coffee grinder works great as well.

Process until candy canes are a fine powder like the sugar.

If you like a stronger peppermint flavor add another candy cane, if you find it too strong add more sugar until it is to your liking.

Pour into an airtight container to store.
