I really love how well-rounded Mother Goose Time early childhood curriculum is. All 4 participate if only as a break from other work for my oldest. I love the themes and how they tie into every day life. This months theme is Bees and Butterflies and I was thinking about field trips. I am just dying for it to get warm and sunny for trips to the zoo. We have not visited the Detroit zoo in almost 2 years now. This theme makes me even more excited about going with this theme as they have a butterfly house.
We have been so blessed with the privilege to visit gardens full of butterflies and two butterfly houses in the past so I thought I would jump in with this great field trip ideas.
When visiting butterfly habitats be sure to explain to the kids not to touch the butterflies and if they land on them to stand very still to not scare or injure the delicate butterflies. This picture is of a butterfly some kids where messing with. This is why you must explain that butterflies are fragile before going on this field trip.
Take a camera and try to capture as many different butterflies as you can as a family. Use google reverse image search to find out what each butterfly is. You could make a scrapbook and have fun. The Macro setting on a good camera is perfect for a butterfly field trip.
We can’t go on the fiend trip till later in the month. That’s okay though. We pulled out the last day pack from Mother Goose Time and put on our own butterfly house in the house. Yes we skip around as we see fit customizing it for our kids. Don’t you love that?
