This year Mother Goose Time is doing this really cool new Invitation to Create thing. I may have been holding my breath waiting for the September box to see what they were about. The previews made everything seem so exciting.
And I am here to tell you they live up to our expectations. I may have been guilty of skipping ahead and doing day ten as soon as the suggested book arrived in the mail. My Many Colored Days by Dr. Seuss was a hit for this project.
This Dr. Seuss book had us laughing because it pretty much explains my personality in a nutshell. Even the kids noticed the fact that some days I am “brown and low, low, down” then the next I am like “a busy, busy, bee.” This book really helps bring our emotions and personal energy to light.

Mother Goose Time set up this great idea to get kids really thinking and creating on their own. They recommend leaving the book on display to inspire the kids. Mother Goose Time also included a great photo of the three primary colors blending into each other in watercolors. This one is being laminated and added to our wall for sure.
They included these paper cutouts of a person. While your child can paint and mix on a solid sheet of paper a cut out of a person makes for a greater understanding that they are painting the colors and emotions of well a person.
Talk to your child while doing this project
Encourage your children to think about the emotions connected to the colors and how each color makes them feel. What is their favorite color? How are they mixing the colors to create something new? How does it feel when our emotions mix?
We really love bringing Dr Seuss into our home for helping the children learn. Green Eggs and Ham is a great book for teaching early readers because it uses the same 50 words repetitively. This printable green eggs and ham game will help you make the most of the book.
