3 Great Ways to Keep Busy During Your Retirement
Retirement is usually not quite what people think it will be. After the first few months, or maybe even weeks, some people realize that they have nothing to do, and they hate it. That’s okay, though, because there are plenty of great ways to spend your time now that you are not restricted by your once regular work schedule.
Start collecting sea glass
This is a great hobby that many people like to pick up, especially if they are frequent beach goers. It makes going to the beach that much more fun. You are on a sort of scavenger hunt, and the things you collect can be used in so many ways.
PH water levels range from 1 to 14, with 7 being neutral. pH levels below 7 are more acidic, and levels above 7 are basic or alkaline. Freshwater pH levels range from 6 to 8, while seawater tends to have a PH level of at least 8. This makes the creation of sea glass much easier is seawater compared to fresh water.
Turning a shard of glass into a beautiful piece of sea glass can take anywhere between five and 50 years, so it’s easy to appreciate its beauty.
Move closer to your children
Being a grandparent gives you almost a second chance as a parent because now you have so much more time to be there for the kids. If you live further than a 3-4 hour drive from your kids and grandkids, it may be time to consider a move.
You will be able to occupy your time babysitting, going to their recitals, sports games, and simply making memories with them. You won’t have to miss out on any birthday parties or graduation ceremonies if you live just around the corner. These activities are sure to fill up your calendar as well.
Pick up a new hobby
Retirement gives you all that extra time you need to learn something new. Think of something you have always wanted to try but never had the time before. You can pick up the guitar or learn how to speak a foreign language. You can even start up that garden you have always wanted.
No matter how you spend your time during retirement, there’s no way you can go wrong. Take the time to relax and enjoy yourself. After all, you have worked and waited your whole life for these moments.
