Christmas Tree Tambourine Craft and Music Lesson

November 27, 2015

Christmas Tree Tambourine Craft and Music Lesson for KidsThis week with Mother Goose Time we have been exploring sounds of winter (Decembers theme.) We have been making instruments all week and today it is perfect to start the Christmas fun.

What You Need:

  • Paper plates. We had some nice thick ones that came with Octobers MGT that we saved for later these are the same plates we used in our Seeds Unit Study.
  • Paint and paint brushes
  • Jewels or stickers
  • Beans
  • Glue

How to make:

Christmas Tree Tambourine Craft and Music Lesson for KidsPaint a tree onto the plate. Both sides or do something different with each side. Add self stick jewels or stickers to decorate.

Place beans on one plate and glue both together. Double sided tape makes a great alternative.

Ways to enjoy:

Teaching children about music opens doors to self expression. Frees the mind to allow creativity and makes life just a bit more fun. This week with Mother Goose Time we got to really explore music here are a few ideas you do not want to miss.

Communication:

Music can be used for communication. Talk to your child about how music can be used to send messages far away (think African drums.) Beat a rhythm onto a drum or hard surface. Have your child repeat the pattern. Then have your child create one for you to copy.

Quiet and loud sounds:

Invite your child to make sounds with objects around the room. Encourage your child to make the loudest sound they can. Now have your child make the softest quietest sound they can.
