2022 Living Room Decorating Trends You Need to Know!

March 1, 2018

A new home is a space that gives you an opportunity to show off your personal style. You can decorate the home with pieces of artwork or furniture that really show off who you are as a person. When it comes to decorating the living room, there is a lot that can be done.

A living room is a space where many people gather to talk, watch TV, or just relax. Since it’s such a common space for people to be in, it’s very important to make it a priority when decorating.

For example, you can add an antique fireplace and turn it into a focal point in the house. To do so, consider placing a beautifully carved antique fireplace mantel as the centerpiece of your living room. The ornate details and rich craftsmanship of an antique fireplace can instantly elevate the aesthetic appeal of the space. Pair it with vintage-inspired furniture pieces, such as a Chesterfield sofa or a wingback armchair, to create a cohesive and charming atmosphere.

Incorporate soft, luxurious textiles like velvet or silk in rich jewel tones to add warmth and comfort. Enhance the ambiance with carefully selected lighting, such as vintage-inspired chandeliers or table lamps with intricate designs.

Adorn the mantel with vintage artwork, family heirlooms, or antique accessories to further enhance the timeless allure of the space. By incorporating an antique fireplace and carefully curating the surrounding decor, you can transform your living room into a cozy and elegant haven that exudes old-world charm.

It’s a new year, so there are new trends out there in the decorating world. These trends are definitely a few that you should bring into your home.

Realtor.com has compiled a list of some of these trends. First, they say incorporating natural elements into your home is a good place to start. This means bringing plants into your living room. Having a plant in any space is a great way to liven up a room.

Since it is a living thing, it really helps to bring life and a sense of relaxation into the area. Doing so is especially great if you have a lot of wooden pieces already existing in the room. For instance, if you have wood paneling, plants are a great way to complement that.

Realtor.com also suggests adding funky lighting to the room. Lighting is much more than just a way to brighten up a room. Lighting fixtures can be used as a statement piece. There are so many cool fixtures out there, that you’ll definitely be able to find one to spice up your space.

If you want to add even more character to a space, add some antique lighting fixtures. Antique lighting fixtures are great because they have a long history and can help bring some class into the modern area.

Plus, you can look for these antique pieces online so you don’t even have to worry about leaving your house! Online antique sales are so popular in the United States that they produced about $1 billion in revenue in 2016.

If you want to get really crazy with a trend, take a look at your ceiling. Wild ceilings are currently extremely popular. Pinterest even named statement ceilings as one of its top trends for 2022. Pull out your step ladder and place some funky wallpaper on your ceiling.

Many people think that wallpaper is strictly for your walls, but clearly, that isn’t the case. Anyone who enters your home probably won’t expect your ceilings to be decorated. So, it’s a simple and quick way to unexpectedly liven up a space.

If you’re in the market for decorating a new home, remember to keep the trends listed above in mind. They’re definitely things that you need to incorporate in your home this year.
