Mushroom and Onion Burgers
One of my husband’s co-workers quit and he has been pulling double duty doing both of their jobs and staying a couple hours late each night to help keep things running smoothly. He is worn out and tired at the end of the day but in good spirits. In an effort to make things a bit easier on him I have been putting together recipes that he loves when he gets home each day. When he got home from work on Saturday we kicked off the weekend with juicy mushroom and onion burgers.
These super simple burgers are mixed with diced mushrooms and onions and topped with fried mushrooms and onions to pack them with even more flavor. My secret ingredient for tough weeks like this is added of course. Tumeric is such a simple add in but it packs a powerful punch for pain and inflammation.
What you need for delicious mushroom and onion burgers
Anyone that knows me will tell you I love a good burger. My husband asked me where I want to go on a date. I of course said out for burgers. Typical fast food burgers don’t cut it. I love a burger packed with flavor from the whole in the wall diner to homemade sloppy cheese burgers. These mushroom and onion burgers are just that.
- 1 pound quality ground beef
- 4 oz fresh mushrooms of choice
- 1 medium onion
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
- 2 tablespoons butter
- choice cheese and condiments
Make juicy mushroom and onion burgers
With a sharp chefs knife dice 4 oz of mushrooms and one half of the onion.
Slice remaining mushrooms and onions.
Mix diced mushrooms and onions, spices, and ground beef in a large mixing bowl.
Form into patties of your desired size. Cook over medium heat in a large frying pan or put out on a charcoal grill for even more amazing flavor.
While the burgers are cooking saute the freshly sliced mushrooms and onions over medium heat until deep brown and tender.
Top your cooked burgers with sauteed mushrooms and onions and all of your favorite toppings. For more amazing flavor you can drizzle on homemade mushroom gravy.
With summer coming and the heat rolling in burgers are a great option for summer cooking without heating up your home.
